About the OpenForex Society

The OpenForex Society is the standard-setting core of the OpenForex Foundation. It develops the monetary literature and working standards through which the OpenForex project describes a common reference for comparing different forms of value. Its work connects the Third Value Neutrality Standard, QASH, implementation guidance, and the stewardship of those publications.

Updated 2026-09-27.

Our purpose

Currencies and assets have distinct identities, uses, and economic contexts. The Society's foundational question is how those different forms of value can be expressed against a shared reference while preserving their identities. Its answer is the Third Value approach: a common reference defined through an explicit methodology rather than the automatic selection of one participating currency as the universal measure.

The Third Value Neutrality Standard sets out this monetary framework. The Society's work is to articulate its principles, define its terms, and connect those statements to specifications that readers and implementers can examine. Neutrality is a design objective whose methods, inputs, and governance remain open to scrutiny.

What the Society does

Establish the monetary framework

The Society publishes the foundational literature for Third Value and defines QASH within that framework. QASH stands for Quantification of Asset Settlement & Holding. The literature describes its intended role as the Society's common monetary reference for quantification, exchange, holding, and settlement. Read the QASH overview for terminology and scope.

Maintain a working body of standards

OpenForex Standards are the Society's published, ratified working standards, as described in the project's institutional literature. The standards catalog connects readers to the relevant specifications and versions. An implementation or review should identify the precise edition it relies on and distinguish its own behavior from the requirements of that edition.

Make implementation knowledge inspectable

Technical references, worked examples, and source documentation help translate the framework into behavior that can be examined. The developer hub provides a calculation toolkit and an integration path. The learning lab demonstrates arithmetic with synthetic inputs. These resources allow a visitor to reproduce an example and investigate assumptions before proposing a change or developing an implementation.

Preserve reasoning and invite review

A useful standards publication explains what a requirement means, why it exists, and what evidence supports it. The Society's published governance framework connects proposals, review, decision records, and versioned publication. Readers can contribute corrections, research, implementation findings, and structured proposals through the contribution pathway.

The foundational literature distinguishes the Society's standards work from the commercial identities and operations of institutions that may use the framework. Reading a standard, running the toolkit, or preparing a contribution does not itself establish an institutional appointment or an implementation approval.

Principles that guide the work

  • Preserve monetary plurality. Explain how a common reference accommodates distinct monetary identities.
  • Make methods explicit. State assumptions, units, input provenance, timing, and numeric policy so a claim can be examined.
  • Keep decisions accountable. Connect consequential changes to an identified proposal, review evidence, and the applicable authority.
  • Protect independence. Disclose relevant interests and keep funding arrangements separate from technical approval.
  • Make knowledge usable. Provide readable explanations, accessible pages, source downloads, and practical routes into technical work.

These principles connect the project overview, governance framework, and funding principles. The sourcing policy explains how project statements, software behavior, and synthetic examples are attributed.

Governance and responsibility

The published framework describes five responsibilities: visitors examine the material; contributors prepare changes and evidence; editors maintain clarity and publication quality; maintainers review technical meaning within an assigned domain; and Council responsibilities concern standards and governance decisions under the Society's authority.

The governance model describes the record a material decision needs: the proposal, authorizing rule, participants, relevant interests, evidence, outcome, affected versions, and follow-up. Named appointments, voting procedures, and terms of office should be read from their governing records. This introduction does not establish a new charter or appoint officeholders.

For changes to a standard's behavior, compatibility requirements, or governance authority, follow the request-for-comments process. A focused editorial correction can follow the contribution workflow.

Society membership is separate from journal participation; this website does not offer membership registration. Scholarly manuscripts use the journal workflow described below.

OpenForex Society Journal

The OpenForex Society Journal provides a dedicated scholarly publishing workspace for monetary systems, valuation methods, economic evidence, and open standards. Authors prepare manuscripts, references, data statements, and supporting files; editors manage screening, reviewer assignments, revisions, copyediting, and publication.

Published articles have stable journal pages, author metadata, downloadable files, citation exports, and usage statistics. Views and file accesses measure requests. Sharing actions do not prove delivery or external readership. Reported republication locations become public only after editorial verification; a listing does not grant reuse rights.

Read the author guidelines and review principles. Public registration and submission availability are shown on the journal homepage. The first issue has not yet been published. Editorial correspondence: editorial@openforex.io.

Questions about the Society

How can I become involved?

Start with a contribution that matches your interests: a clear question, a correction with a source, a reproducible experiment, or an implementation finding. The participation routes above are available without claiming a formal membership category. Membership eligibility, dues, and appointment arrangements should come from a published institutional record when available.

Where can I read the Society's position in full?

Read the foundational monetary literature, then use the standards catalog to identify related technical references. Use each article's Sources & citation section to retain its URL, stated version where available, and downloadable text.

What does the website provide today?

The site provides a public knowledge library, guided reading, synthetic calculation exercises, downloadable software, source references, tools for preparing contributions, and the Society Journal publishing workspace. Operational services offered by an adopting institution require that institution's own documentation and arrangements.
