The purpose of OpenForex

Different currencies and assets carry their own monetary identities. The Third Value Neutrality Standard establishes their representation against a common reference without selecting one participating currency as the universal measure. It provides the working framework for quantification, comparison, and settlement within the Standard.

Neutrality is a design objective that must be examined through methodology, data selection, governance, and implementation. A common reference alone does not establish fair pricing, available liquidity, or settlement capacity.

The OpenForex Society is the standard-setting core of the OpenForex Foundation. OpenForex Standards are the Society's working body of standards; OpenForex Wiki is their knowledge and reference publication. These are parts of one institutional ecosystem.

What is available today

The Society provides the standards and literature as an established service to the open standards community. This website publishes their reference material, technical guidance, worked examples, and contribution pathways. The website implementation is a documentation portal; its local API documentation describes the content-management integration, not transaction processing.

Principles for participation

  • Make assumptions, methods, and limitations inspectable.
  • Separate standards decisions from implementation preferences.
  • Preserve version history and make substantial changes reviewable.
  • Explain the evidence behind compatibility and neutrality claims.
  • Keep access to knowledge distinct from sponsorship or funding.
