QASH symbol: copyright and use

Identity and stewardship
The symbol identifies the QASH monetary unit within OpenForex Standards. The OpenForex Society maintains its reference presentation as part of the Standard's monetary notation.
The currency symbol consists of a rounded outline and a descending, double-barred stem. It contains no dots. It identifies a monetary unit, independently of the identity of any company, application, or service that employs QASH.
Copyright notice
Rights in copyright-protected artwork, documentation, software, and font files remain with their respective rights holders. Except where an express license or applicable law permits otherwise, those rights are reserved. Publication through the OpenForex Wiki does not transfer ownership of those materials.
The currency sign, a particular drawing of that sign, and the software that renders it are distinct subjects. This notice does not claim exclusive copyright over monetary notation, ideas, or other elements that applicable law leaves unprotected. The availability and scope of protection depend on the material and jurisdiction.
Stewardship of the QASH symbol does not, by itself, establish ownership of every third-party rendering or implementation. Contributor attribution and any applicable asset or software license must be retained when required by their terms.
Using the symbol as currency notation
The symbol's intended use is to identify amounts denominated in QASH. Appropriate contexts include prices, invoices, account statements, financial reports, educational material, technical specifications, and interfaces that accurately describe QASH amounts.
Use a consistent notation throughout a document or interface. For example:
| Context | Presentation |
|---|---|
| Amount with the currency sign | 125.00 |
| Plain-text amount | QASH 125.00 |
| Reference value | 0.50 /GHS |
| Accessible label | QASH 125.00 |
Define the unit at first use where readers may not recognize it. Keep the sign adjacent to its amount, and make the decimal and grouping conventions clear. In equations, preserve the stated unit relationships rather than changing notation midway through a calculation.
Appearance and integrity
- Preserve the rounded outline and double-barred stem.
- Keep the currency sign free of dots, speech elements, badges, and company logos.
- Size and align it as a currency character within the surrounding text.
- Use a legible weight and adequate contrast. The sign may inherit the text colour; gold is not required for monetary notation.
- Preserve its proportions when scaling. Do not stretch, rotate, or obscure the reference form.
- Identify altered artwork as a modification rather than presenting it as the Society's reference symbol.
These are presentation rules for the Standard. They do not assert ownership of unrelated symbols or displace rights available under applicable law.
Attribution
In documentation describing the symbol or implementing its reference presentation, use this attribution:
QASH currency symbol — OpenForex Standards, OpenForex Society, the core of the OpenForex Foundation.
Place attribution in a credits section, documentation page, or asset notice. It need not accompany every price or numerical amount. An attribution statement identifies provenance; it is not a substitute for a license where permission is required.
Font, artwork, and TypeScript files
The website supplies a local currency font, a reference SVG, and a TypeScript rendering component. Access to those files for reading this website does not establish a blanket redistribution or modification license. Before packaging them in another product, identify the applicable license or obtain authorization from the relevant rights holder.
This page defines symbol identity and presentation. It does not grant a general software license, assign copyright, or license the wider OpenForex name and brand assets.
Accessibility and text interchange
The local font renders the sign at private-use character U+E000. This is a website font mapping, not an officially assigned Unicode currency character. Its appearance cannot be assumed outside an environment that loads the QASH font.
Use QASH as the portable text representation in copied text, exports, source records, and accessible names. Keep the numeric amount available as text. A reader should not need to recognize the visual sign to understand the currency being stated.
Independence and endorsement
Displaying the QASH sign identifies a denomination. It does not establish affiliation with the Society, certification under OpenForex Standards, or endorsement by the Foundation. It does not independently demonstrate the existence of a balance, reserve holding, redemption arrangement, or settlement service.
Companies employing QASH retain their own identities and responsibilities. Describe any actual affiliation or certification separately, with its scope and supporting record.
Do not attach a registered-trademark designation to the sign on the basis of this page. No trademark registration number, territory, or registered goods and services is asserted here.
Rights clarification and corrections
For a proposed asset redistribution, modified rendering, or use as a product identifier, identify the intended use, the files involved, and the attribution or license on which you intend to rely. Direct permission requests through a verified institutional contact when one is published. A request, silence, or a general contribution invitation does not constitute authorization.
Report incorrect symbol renderings through the contribution workflow. Read the QASH reference, brand identity, and publication notice for related guidance.
Legal reference notes
For the United States, the Copyright Office distinguishes protectable expression from familiar symbols and typeface design in Circular 33. The USPTO explains the separate roles of trademark, patent, and copyright and the conditions for using the registration sign in What is a trademark?. These references explain those distinctions; they are not a determination of QASH's rights or registration status in any jurisdiction.
