## The QASH currency symbol
The QASH mark identifies the QASH unit in amounts and equations throughout this literature. QASH is its plain-text representation for accessible reading, source documents, and data interchange.

## Meaning of QASH
The source text expands QASH as **Quantification of Asset Settlement & Holding**. It describes QASH as the monetary unit occupying the third-value position: a common reference through which participating currencies and assets may be quantified, held, exchanged, and settled within adopting environments.

This reference explains QASH within the Society's published Standard. Website functions and service-specific access instructions are documented separately from the monetary literature.

## TVX and QASH
TVX names the Third Value neutrality principle and reference relationship. QASH names the monetary unit described as realizing that position. The Standard defines the reference relationship; the monetary system provides the operational responsibilities around that unit.

The literature does not define QASH simply as a digital representation of one national currency. It has a distinct common-reference role governed by valuation and operating methodology.

## Components described in the literature
| Component | Responsibility |
| --- | --- |
| QASH Reserve | Supporting assets and their management framework |
| QASH Value Engine | Reference valuation and conversion relationships |
| QASH Ledger | Authoritative balances and accounting records |
| QASH Settlement | Fulfilment of obligations denominated in QASH |

These components separate the responsibilities of the QASH Monetary System. Service documentation identifies their operators, access arrangements, operating rules, and review evidence.

## Rate confidence and publication evidence
The QASH reference is part of the Society’s published standard. Its implementation defines a common reference, a valuation authority and an accountable publication record. Readers establish confidence in a particular rate from its evidence: authorizing authority, exact methodology and observation versions, publication epoch, validity period, units, source provenance and integrity signature.

The [authority publication status](/governance/valuation-status.json) reports whether a current authorized QASH valuation is available. A current production publication must pass the authority’s methodology, observation-admission and validity checks and carry an Ed25519 signature. The [QASH reference calculator](?page=lab) displays this status separately from the values entered for calculation.

The [public source-data library](/governance/data) provides a versioned 2024 observation release with source references, native units, JSON/CSV downloads and a public API. Source observations and an authorized QASH valuation are distinct publications. The calculator’s preset figures illustrate the reference arithmetic; operational reference values must come from a current authorized valuation epoch.

## Operating methodology
Issuance and retirement, reserve eligibility and custody, holder rights, liquidity management, obligation records and rule changes are governed by the relevant operating policies and authorization records.

The Standard requires monetary discipline across these responsibilities. Use the relevant operating documentation for detailed policies and service-specific terms.

## Relationship to adopting environments
Companies and other adopting institutions may employ QASH under the Standard. Their businesses, products, and services remain separate from the OpenForex Society and its standards literature. This wiki documents QASH and the Standard; company-specific use belongs in the adopting company's own documentation.
